The Wine

Torcalvano Nobile di Montepulciano is pure Sangiovese locally called Prugnolo Gentile. Within this historical appellation, Sangiovese tells of a predominantly loose soil and rich in marine clays which results in a wine with an intense ruby colour and strong aromas particularly suitable for long aging.

Tasting: The 2018 vintage reveals through the glass a powerful ruby red colour, hints of ripe fruit and leather on the nose, but also spiced and citrus notes. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, this wine shows silky and fruity tannins on the finish.
Pairing: Villa di Nozzole suggests to pair it with pork filled with rabbit, livers and Savoy cabbage with onion pie First vintage: 1997
Shelf life: up to 15 years

The TorCalvano Estate

Montepulciano, located between the Chiana Valley and the Val d’Orcia, has been an area suited to the cultivation of quality Sangiovese for over 300 years. In 1685, Francesco Redi, poet, doctor and naturalist, declared in his dithyramb “Bacchus in Tuscany”: Montepulciano is the King of all wines
