The Wine

The owner’s reserve. A wine strongly wanted by Giovanni Folonari to order to represent his idea of Gran Selezione. Only Sangiovese grapes from Tenuta di Nozzole and the return to tradition through the use of large seasoned woodenbarrels, a typical Tuscan aging method. Numbered bottles and a limited production.
Tasting: ruby red colour, notes of fresh orange juice, ripe mango and resinous coniferous undergrowth as well as spices from long ageing in wood;soft palate, elegantly powerful and solemn, silky tannins and spicy finish.

First vintage: 2013

Production area: grapes grown on a Cru of Tenuta di Nozzole located in the municipality of Greve in Chianti
Altitude: about 300 MSL
Soil composition: loamy-clayey, poor in skeleton
Training system: low spur-pruned cordon

The Grapes

Grape variety: Sangiovese
Planting pattern: 5,000 plants per hectare

In the winery

Vinification: fermentation in stainless steel and maceration for approximately 4 weeks
Aging: at least 30 months in big oak-barrels, before refining in the bottle
Alcohol content: 14.5%
